Data Validation QA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The QA Data Analyst is responsible for performing quality assurance duties throughout the data warehouse and reporting project lifecycle. This position requires a self-motivated individual with experience in Quality Assurance and/or Development in a data warehouse and enterprise reporting environment.

They will work with ETL Dev. and Arch's to make sure the data is correct.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

· Develop and execute test cases based on business requirements (manual and automated) – will have to write SQL to verify data transformation and data loads.

· Report defects and escalate issues as needed

· Contribute to the project success in a team environment while simultaneously completing individual tasks and goals

· Communicate effectively to the team throughout the development process

· Troubleshoot new builds and post production issues

· Perform early morning or late night validation when new releases are being deployed into production

Qualifications:

· Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience

· 3-5 years QA and/or Development experience focusing on data validation

· Minimum of 2 years working in a UNIX environment

· Minimum of 2 years performing SQL queries to validate data

· Minimum of 2 years of QA or Development work on a Data Warehouse

· Knowledge of data warehousing and analytical reporting including at least 6 months experience with an OLAP tool (Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion or MicroStrategy)

· Understanding of general business processes and operating metrics. Candidates with business experience are preferred

· Demonstrated experience in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating one’s own work, and ability to multi-task successfully

· Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment (either independently or within a team setting)

· Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

· Must be able to contribute in a team environment

· Must have working knowledge of MS Office suite - specifically, Word and Excel

· Experience with business support software applications such as MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Visio, Visual SourceSafe) required
